00:02:14: So there's not always black or white.

00:02:16: And that's also concerning when we talk about what's happening in the robotics industry, because there are different ways to go and different things to be seen.

00:02:24: Let's talk about the award that was presented yesterday, the KUKA Innovation Award, which highlights cutting edge developments in medical robotics.

00:02:32: So let's talk talk about what happened this year about the competition and how the winners reacted.

00:02:39: No, definitely.

00:02:40: Yeah, thanks for thanks for mentioning it.

00:02:42: We again are hosting here.

00:02:44: our hosted our innovation award here.

00:02:47: I think the fourth time now.

00:02:51: It was a great audience.

00:02:53: We had a topic on the robotics challenge, we were looking for innovative teams to apply for the innovation award, present their ideas, they get a robot for free for a couple of time and then present it here at Medicare where we have been setting the finalists yesterday.

00:03:15: And you see a lot of innovations or a lot of good ideas.

00:03:18: Talk about the idea of improving precision, safety, and efficiency regarding robotics and how they are helping to improve these things.

00:03:31: The good thing on a robot compared to any person, any medical doctor, assistant, whatever, they don't get tired.

00:03:39: They keep the position from the first second to the last day they are operating.

00:03:44: And I think that's a great benefit.

00:03:47: It's repeatable and keeps the quality at a constant level.

00:03:54: I think there's a great advantage of robotics.

00:03:56: That's why we also will see more and more robotics in the future coming into space.

00:04:01: I think one big thing that will come up is the combination of robotics and AI in the future.

00:04:08: We'll see this already happening step-by-step in the industry, not in the medtech but automotive industry and with time it gets adapted also to the medical field.

00:04:19: big advantage for medical because medical is much more complex.

00:04:22: But having the AI guiding the robots in the future and making the robots better I think will be one of the key drivers especially for our industry.

00:04:33: Absolutely but I can hear already the first voices saying oh my goodness but AI is actually not quite perfect yet or it might never be.

00:04:42: Are people apprehensive about the combination of both?

00:04:47: And how have the reactions been when you talk about AI and robotics coming together?

00:04:51: I think this will just benefit.

00:04:54: And it will take time.

00:04:55: Anyhow, the medical industry is one of the slowest I know.

00:04:59: So it won't be next year that there will be a complete automated surgery done by a robot with an AI behind.

00:05:07: It takes years, maybe decades to come up with that.

00:05:12: But I think it will come.

00:05:13: it will just benefit the knowledge that we have in the big AI.

00:05:18: Space for for the intervention and in the end for the patient.

00:05:22: So does that mean we're talking about a global.

00:05:25: Let's say globally that it's slow in a global scale.

00:05:29: or are we in Europe a bit slower regarding the.

00:05:33: the implementation of robotics and also of AI and would you wish for a quicker implementation?

00:05:40: So we see that a lot of innovation is driven out of Europe.

00:05:46: Switzerland, Germany, France, especially on robotics.

00:05:49: But the problem is then to really bring it into the clinic.

00:05:52: so our customers, the medtech companies, they're focusing first on the United States.

00:05:57: Why is that?

00:05:59: It's easier.

00:05:59: I think the MDR regulation, the AI act, it's so complicated at this point to bring it into get certification.

00:06:08: And then also.

00:06:09: Europe is very diverse.

00:06:11: Every country has a different healthcare system.

00:06:14: So if you have.

00:06:16: get insurance paying for the system in Germany doesn't mean you get it in France or in Austria.

00:06:21: And I think this makes it complicated.

00:06:24: Once you have the clearance prepared to in the US with the FDA, you're done.

00:06:29: You can sell it all over the US.

00:06:31: There are also.

00:06:32: there's more money in the partially in the system.

00:06:34: So it's much easier there to to bring especially these big and cost-intensive robotics at this point into the market.

00:06:44: Maybe that's a challenge that can be solved here, or at least some solutions be found here at the trade fair.

00:06:50: What do you say to people who say that robotics are missing the human touch in medicine, and that is something that we don't, that we need as humans to be, yeah, to have that human touch when we're being treated?

00:07:05: I think definitely important and the important thing is that there will still be doctors, people who take care.

00:07:13: It won't happen that you just go yourself into a hospital, get an operation without seeing anyone.

00:07:18: So I think there will be a lot of personal touch.

00:07:20: The robot is there to assist, to make procedures precise, more accurate, to get it faster done with less incisions for faster healing and so on.

00:07:32: They are there to assist and make it more precise.

00:07:34: It's not that to take the work or to take the human interaction point between the patient and the medical team.

00:07:42: Even though I'm interested to see how we talk about this maybe in ten years, because I think ten years ago we would never have expected robotics to be as far as as it is right now.

00:07:51: So we'll see how that goes.

00:07:53: If there's one thing you can highlight that you've seen at the Medica and compliment regarding robotics, is there one thing you can tell me that you say, this is something we should be looking out for?

00:08:03: It's a hard question, I know.

00:08:05: I know.

00:08:05: But especially looking on the Innovation Award from what we've been presenting there and also what the winner team is that we see that robotics will come into different spaces.

00:08:17: currently it's only surgically or mostly in surgically but we will see it more in diagnostics and therapy and we will see this coming wider spread.

00:08:29: so it's not just for the high-end clinics but it's maybe also step by step coming into the offices of the medical doctors we go to today at some point.

00:08:41: Very

00:08:41: exciting stuff.

00:12:17: I don't even know when you sleep with all this traveling.

00:12:19: You just came from Brazil and I've been in Germany for four days now.

00:12:23: So that's a lot.

00:12:24: It's great to have you as a company at the Medica again this year.

00:12:28: And I'd like to know what motivated you as a company to come back and what message or innovation are you excited to share with the visitors here at the fair?

00:12:38: Yeah, first of all, we've been great here.

00:12:39: and then every year.

00:12:40: so then the be the you know very excited to bring our new renovations components and systems here.

00:12:48: as you know we are the system and the components level service provider and the manufacturer globally.

00:12:55: so we bring lots of the medical devices and the components and systems into this show.

00:13:03: So we are excited to share all those new products and innovations with our customers, even older customers and also the new customers.

00:13:14: And maybe you can tell us what have the reactions been so far.

00:13:17: when people come to see you at the stand?

00:13:19: Yeah, so... doesn't matter it's new or old customers they always come to our booth and you know to looking for the new things and innovations.

00:13:27: and this is the one of our key.

00:13:29: and you know uh pivotal uh play forms to for us to provide and to show our customers.

00:13:37: and What do you do with trends in the next step or in the future or near future or even three or five years?

00:13:46: plan to give them ideas and to share the experience and also learn from the customer the new demands and requirements.

00:13:54: Exactly.

00:13:55: That's really important that you adhere to what the customer needs.

00:13:58: Let's talk about as you are a trusted name in intelligent motion systems, what.

00:14:05: The customers are seeing at the stand like.

00:14:07: maybe you can tell us about what you're presenting and what people can look forward to seeing.

00:14:11: Yes every year for sure we bring the new products and new technologies and to share with the customers here and it's great opportunity so you can grab a group of people and to meet them in advance.

00:14:23: you don't have to go individual.

00:14:25: so this is a great platform and this year we bring lots of new products and technologies for the ceiling lifts and e-walkers and also the driving systems to the beds.

00:14:38: so fifth wheels and to give the caregiver less strength to push the beds and move around.

00:14:46: so this is the new technology.

00:14:47: so we give them you know this innovation.

00:14:51: so in this show but for sure we'll bring more next year.

00:14:55: Absolutely

00:14:56: and I mean that just to give the caregivers a chance to not have to work so hard.

00:15:01: they have to work hard but not have to use their strength so much is so important in an effortless

00:15:05: I would like to say call less efforts to you know give the patients and also the caregivers less strength.

00:15:13: you know.

00:15:14: Definitely.

00:15:14: In an aging society, it's really important that we have ways to help out the caregivers.

00:15:20: Let's talk about the development of this industry and that automation and connectivity as well as sustainability all play a role.

00:15:29: How do you keep the balance between all these three things?

00:15:32: That's a very good question.

00:15:35: Keep a balance is always a little bit challenging for both of us.

00:15:41: You know, this is what we build up with our technology into the experience.

00:15:48: So we listen to the customers first, which means we take care of all those demands and requirements from the market.

00:15:56: Then we go where the customer is located and where the team is located.

00:16:01: So globally, we build our teams and closely to the customers to shorten the distance.

00:16:08: and not the physical distance and also communication distance and different cultures, different understanding because we come from different countries, different cultures.

00:16:17: So this is we've been merging to each other and also we use our technologies because we're using the engineering languages.

00:16:27: It's much easier to communicate and to bring our new innovations and new technologies into the market and close to the customer.

00:16:35: and our team located in Europe.

00:16:40: So they are the key communication bridge for us to bring the requirements or the demands from the customer and to closely to work with the engineers or teams in headquarters.

00:16:58: And in the other end also, we built the IND center in Europe and also we build a manufacturing in Europe.

00:17:08: so we bring our supply chain close to the market and also close to the customers physically.

00:17:15: So many factors that play a role from supply chains that you have to make sure that they work in a world where supply chains are not working or they weren't anyway.

00:17:23: So it's wonderful the job that you're doing.

00:17:25: Let's talk about sustainability, which is also such an important topic and how you are integrating eco-friendly materials and eco-efficient systems in becoming a responsible manufacturing company.

00:17:36: How are you doing that?

00:17:37: Yeah, so, you know, we We have three different levels with additional systems.

00:17:45: The first is the product level.

00:17:48: Our engineers developed the products by using the equal materials and also using technologies to reduce the power consumption and to increase the lifespan.

00:18:03: This is the way we are on the product level.

00:18:05: Another one is the manufacturing level.

00:18:07: We use a lot of energy.

00:18:10: intelligent energy systems in our factory to reduce the power consumption, for example, is for the vertical, the power generation systems in our factories across the world.

00:18:26: So any factories we open, so we use those two.

00:18:30: And also we increase all the factories and to do zero waste and all recycled materials.

00:18:39: And the third level is we are using different systems to make sure all those are eco-friendly to our customers closely and to the eco-economic way to help the customer to increase their procurement department to make a decision to choose eco materials.

00:19:04: It seems like you've taken everything into consideration from communication over the eco-friendly materials to the location you are in.

00:19:14: It's amazing what you've been doing and everything has changed since two thousand and you've managed to go with the development of the industry.

00:19:22: So it's really a pleasure to have you here on the show and an honor to have you here and just sit off at the fair.
